About Joost Delsink
I was born in 1973 in Nijmegen. Since 1998, I have been living and working in Utrecht. My way of painting can be compared to making a journey, in which I work spontaneously and intuitively. My emotions are my guide, while I allow myself to be surprised by what emerges on the canvas. The results vary from loose to more structured. I love color combinations, lines, empty spaces, and simple materials. I like to express a feeling through color and the use of paint. Sometimes I remove everything that appears in the background of the painting, leaving only a few strokes on the canvas.
I mainly find my inspiration in experiences on a spiritual level. Another subject is humanity and its feelings and relationships. I search for beauty, harmony, and balance, which I also see in nature, and that too is a source of inspiration for me. I am not interested in painting pretty pictures. I want to paint something that goes beyond that, something that transcends. I want my paintings to be open to different interpretations, and that is why I prefer not to give them titles that might limit the viewer.
From 2005 to 2009, I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium.
